Monster glanced over at his blind date, Kiangak, the lovely Barbary maned Dire currently ordering her dessert, and was completely thrilled at how well this particular Kindling first date had gone. Kia was perfect, she was sweet, intelligent, and easy to talk to, and Monty knew that he himself was a little awkward, so he was very happy that she was so gracious, easily carrying the conversation when Monty dropped the ball. Suddenly he realized that Kiangak had stopped talking to the waitress, with both of them now watching him expectantly, and he panicked a bit. Sorry, I was distracted, um… what was the question? Kia chuffed a bright laugh, nearly distracting Monty again, and the waitress smiled brightly. “I only asked if you would like some dessert yourself, sir?” Monster looked down at the menu again, panicking even further for a moment. The waitress waited patiently, making quiet small talk with Kiangak while Monty scanned the menu frantically. Perhaps the strawberry shortcake? It

It had been a long, exhausting day for Rhea and for Alex as well, so, after a little bit of discussion with Tristan, weighing the pros and cons of Alex’s plan before Tristan finally agreed and left Alex and Rhea alone for the night. He did, however, come back with a bed roll for Alex, who stashed it in the corner of Rhea’s inner kennel while the Dakino continued to poke around the exterior paddock. Alex turned back to watching over Rhea, who was at this moment poking around the base of the large maple tree that was growing in the middle of her paddock, cautiously checking out the roots and the rocks around them. Rhea then turned away from the tree, starting to investigate the fence line, sniffing around at the posts, and at the weeds, curiously scratching at a few that caught her attention. Alex smiled at her curiosity, it was like she was experiencing the world anew, and he was happy to see her start to relax in her new home, as he knew that new places could be frightening for

Alex collected the Tokotas in his charge; Atka, Sabrina and Zelphia were all going with him to a local cave to explore and see what they could find. Alex had heard of massive stalagmites and stalactites, jutting from the floor and the ceiling, some nearly touching, as well as a small underground pool, which had an interesting type of bioluminescent lichen around it. Alex was as excited as the three Tokotas were, and he barely managed to throw a bareback pad and halter-collar on Zelphia before the three Tokotas took off. Alex had to scramble to get himself aboard, otherwise Zelphia would have taken off without him. She grumbled unhappily, as Alex held her back for a moment to check on the saddlebags he had strapped to the bareback pad, watching as Atka and Sabrina got more and more ahead. Satisfied, Alex turned her loose, and the big Dire charged after the other two Tokotas, catching up with Sabrina and Atka quickly enough, then the three of them ran together towards the cave mouth

Grim Reaper snarled, twisting on one hindpaw to dodge the tree that had loomed up unexpectedly directly in his path, irritated with the swift, tiny rabbits he was chasing and his own too-big build in contrast. Where rabbits could easily twist on themselves and immediately dart away from him, Grim lost a lot of his speed as he attempted to mimic the much smaller prey animal. He was already frustrated with his small collection of rabbit carcasses, left in a pile for his handler to take care of while Grim did his best to add to the number, even though it was becoming apparent he was more suited to hunt much larger prey. Doggedly, however, Grim continued to chase down the rabbit he was focusing on, and he finally managed to trip it up, which was an immediately fatal mistake for the rabbit, as Grim was upon it even before it hit the ground. He huffed, lifting the carcass in his jaws as he turned back towards where his handler was waiting, slightly mollified by his, if limited, success. His

Tupilek, curious Toki that he is, occasionally stopped to investigate this bush or that one, before bounding after the three larger (in Diana’s case, much larger) Tokotas in his eagerness to catch up again. Neither Alex nor Tristan were taking any chances with this Faction Brawl competition, however, and any attack on a competitor would immediately disqualify them, so the muzzles were a necessity. Diana and Grim Reaper, along with Hecate and Skadi, had been rounded up and sent out to track down a bear that had been menacing campers, breaking into their coolers, tents and even RVs, and eating everything it could find, before wandering off again into the woods. The bear, as one of the witnesses had reported once she had been able to leave her car after the animal rifled through her campsite, seemed to be either injured or old and no longer capable of foraging for itself anymore. The S3 kennel had been called, and the four Tokotas had been dispatched to take care of the problem, with no limit on how they did so. The rangers had explicitly stated that the bear was now considered a threat to humans, as it was no longer showing any fear towards humans, and the restrictions on hunting in the national park had been lifted for the Tokotas. Diana, as their best tracker, took the lead of the little group, Grim right on her heels, with Hecate and Skadi following in a tight grouping.

Stevonnie looked up, silently regarding the winding, switch back trail that led up to the Ridge of the Elders, her deer companion at her side, calm as ever, as Stevonnie carefully plotted their way up the trail. Sikrinerk had given Stevonnie the task of bringing a formerly lost spirit to the Ridge in order for Sikrinerk to help the poor spirit finally cross over to the spirit realm, and Stevonnie was taking that duty completely seriously. Sikrinerk had exhausted Herself in chasing down the spirit, which had proved rather elusive even for the goddess, so Stevonnie was ferrying the spirit in the small spirit jar Sikrinerk had managed to get it into up to the Ridge of Elders, where Sikrinerk and Aippaq would help it pass over. The spirit jar was resting between Stevonnie’s paws as she gazed upwards, planning her ascent to the Ridge. Finally, she huffed, knowing that just standing at the base of the cliff would not do her any good, nor get the spirit to Sikrinerk to allow the poor thing to

Reeva grumbled to herself, sitting up from where she had been hidden behind some brush, as the herd of caribou bolted away from the pack of Tokotas that had ruined her hunt. She watched them go, wondering what her pack would do without the prey she had been intending to bring back with her. Finally, once the caribou disappeared over a ridge, Reeva sighed and rose, turning back the way she had come, tail and head hanging low. She did not make it far before she ran into yet another group of hunters, this time a set of three Dires, heading towards where the herd had been.
